The Department of Behavioral Health and Psychiatry at Trinitas Hospital
offers a full continuum of care for adults with substance abuse and
co-occurring psychiatric disorders. The adult program is designed to provide
both structured program services as well as a menu of outpatient services
which include Bi-lingual Aftercare, Relapse Prevention, Individual and
Family Counseling and Medication Management. All services are tailored to
the individual and are based on a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment
by our qualified staff using Addiction Severity Index and ASAM (American
Society of Addiction Medicine) placement criteria.
Our programs espouse the disease model, and treatment is focused on the
individual and not just the illness. Our philosophy is based upon the goal
of complete abstinence, though we realize that relapse may at times be part
of one's road to recovery. The additional support of self-help fellowships,
specifically those founded on the 12 steps developed by Alcoholics
Anonymous, is strongly encouraged.
Our Adult Day Program (HOPES-Holistic Outpatient Program) is either a step
down from inpatient or ambulatory detoxification or a direct admission. Our
Partial Day Program provides five hours of treatment a day, 5-7 days a week
with a residential component if necessary. Our Intensive MICA (Mentally Ill
Chemically Addicted) Program provides 4 hours of intensive treatment 5 days
a week under the direct supervision of our staff psychiatrist. In addition,
a medication management component provides supportive services for those
clients taking or considering medication. Our Intensive Outpatient Day and
Evening Programs meet 3 hours a day, 3 times a week with a step down to
outpatient services. There are three aftercare groups that meet once a week
and are available in both the day and the evening to accommodate those
clients who work.
For those clients attending day treatment, meals are provided. All programs
strongly encourage family participation.
