What is Bloodless Medicine and Surgery?
Bloodless medicine and surgery is a state-of-the-art approach to managing diseases and conditions while lowering and in many cases eliminating exposure to transfused blood. Specifically, a bloodless program utilizes a variety of techniques and resources to minimize blood loss, salvage and re-infuse as much of a patient's own blood as is possible thus ensuring maximum oxygen delivery to the cells and organs. It also involves the use of pharmaceuticals to maximize blood production - essentially using the patient's own body as a blood bank.

Trinitas provides this program as an option for patients who wish to avoid the use of donor blood during medical and surgical procedures. The Bloodless Program offers 24-hour access to the program manager who is trained and experienced as a facilitator in all aspects of blood avoidance and blood conservation. Our manager's goal is to ensure the highest quality of medical care while respecting your individual choices regarding specific medical procedures.
