What is ejection fraction? It is the amount of blood pumped out of your heart with each heartbeat. Normal ejection fraction values range from 55 to 75 percent. The ejection fraction can be measured by different tests such as echocardiogram, MUGA scan, CAT scan, cardiac catheterization, and nuclear stress test. The most commonly used test is the echocardiogram. If you have a heart condition knowing your ejection fraction will help your doctor decide the treatment to follow and evaluate if it is working.
