Cellular Telephones
Cellular telephones and other types of radio-transmitters must be turned completely off in all hospital patient care areas. Even in standby mode, cellular telephones may interfere with electrical or electronic patient care devices.

Disaster And Fire Drills
Fire and disaster drills are conducted periodically by the hospital. Please do not be alarmed by the overhead announcements or strobe lights during these drills. You are not required to participate, and, unless told otherwise, you and your visitors are asked to remain in your room.

Hospital Color Codes
You may hear announcements of special conditions that our staff has been trained to respond to by color. Please note that whether you hear Code Yellow, Code Brown, Code Red, Code Purple or some other color over the intercom, we are organizing ourselves to deal with a special situation that may be occurring inside or outside our facilities.

Restricted Items
For the protection of all patients, personal electrical appliances, including radios, shavers, and curlers are not permitted in patient rooms. These items create potential safety hazards. However, in most instances, you may bring your own battery-operated small appliances, such as radios and shavers.

Necessary medication will be prescribed by your physician and administered by the nursing staff. If you have brought medication to the hospital, please send it home with a family member or give it to your nurse.

Smoke-Free Hospital
Since January 1, 1990, Trinitas Hospital has been a smoke-free facility. This means that smoking is not permitted anywhere in Trinitas Hospital.

This policy applies equally to patients, visitors, and employees. Trinitas Hospital is committed to the health and well-being of the community and has instituted this policy in association with the New Jersey Hospital Association and most other hospitals in the state.

Please ask your doctor for assistance, if you are a smoker.

Valuables
Please do not bring valuables, such as jewelry or large sums of money, to the hospital. If you have these items, send them home with a relative. Valuables may be placed in the hospital safe; the nursing staff can assist you with this.

Trinitas Hospital does not accept responsibility for the loss of valuables kept in patient rooms. Arrangements to retrieve valuables from the hospital safe should be made prior to 5:30pm.

If you wear dentures please ask your nurse for a denture cup for safe-keeping.
